REMINDER

As Winter approaches, the Downtown Windsor BIA and the Downtown Residents Association would like to remind you to clear your sidewalks from snow and ice as soon as possible in order to allow customers, residents and downtown workers to safely access your business.

Under the City of Windsor By-Law 8544, the owners and/or tenants of commercial properties are required to remove snow or ice in front of their business within four (4) hours following a snowfall or the formation of ice. Residential property owners have 12 hours to clear the walk.

If you see walkways that are not being cleared, call 311 to report. Downtown businesses that do not comply with this By-Law will be reported and could face penalties. People who do not shovel the sidewalk face a $125 fine or, if the city clears the sidewalk, it will bill the property owner for the work.
